France Visa Application Process

France visa applications are carried out under the Schengen rules. With this visa, you may enter 29 countries within the Schengen area.

Application Steps

1. Appointment Booking

Visa applications for France must be submitted through the VFS Global Visa Application Center.

• If you have obtained a Schengen visa within the last 2 years, you may book an appointment under the Tourism: multivisés category.
• If this is your first application, you must apply under the Tourism: première demande category. In this case, you will be placed on a waiting list, and an appointment will be assigned to you later by the system.

2. Preparation of Documents

📌 Document preparation should begin at least 14 days before the appointment date.

Required documents include:

• Passport
• Biometric photograph
• Flight and hotel reservations
• Financial documents (bank statements, proof of funds, etc.)
• Proof of employment/student status
• Travel itinerary

3. Application via VFS Global

Applications are not submitted directly to the Consulate. All applications must be lodged through the VFS Global Visa Application Center.

4. Procedures at the Application Center

On the day of your appointment at VFS, the following procedures will take place:

• Submission of documents
• Collection of fingerprints
• Biometric photograph
• Submission of passport
• Payment of visa fee

👥 Attendance Rules:

• Children under the age of 12 are not required to attend the appointment.
• Applicants aged 12 and above must attend in person, even if fingerprints have previously been collected.

5. Processing Time

The average processing time is 14 days, subject to change depending on the workload of the Consulate.

6. Visa Type and Validity

France visas are generally issued as short-term (90 days) Schengen visas, which allow free movement within the Schengen area.
